On Saturday, May 30, we drove to Sacramento and picked up our new Border Collie puppy. We have had him for about a week now, and we are happy to say that he is 100 percent of what we were hoping for. He is a handful at times, but he has a rich personality. He is very smart.

Our plans are to train him in herding, fly ball, and agility. We will see which one he does best and then concentrate on that. Our hope is to compete with him some, and then maybe breed him someday.

So far, his name seems to be Noaki, pronounced like Oakie but with an "N" in front of it. But, he has an alternate name too: Shredder. Gee, can you figure out how he got that name?

His name turned out to be Dart. He has been learning sheep and cattle herding at The Crystal Rose Cow Dog College near Red Bluff, CA. He is about a year old now, and we still love him very much. Wow! He is a character! You never know what a new little puppy is going to turn out like.
